Individual Poems

Vegetarians
from "L.U.N.A. Let Us Now Ascend"

When it comes to women
I always preferred the ones who were made of wheat
to the ones who were made of meat.
It’s as if kale, wheat, and quinoa softens their skin
As if they had emerged from Eden unpunished,
they smile with actual innocence
a degree removed from the daily slaughter
that feeds the mouths of omnivores.
